At hatching, a larval stinkbug opens the egg cap with a characteristic organ called "egg burstor." This organ is Y-shaped and is formed on the surface of the embryonic membrane. A larva knocks up the egg cap with the tip of this organ, shakes the head from left to right, and gradually widens the opening between the cap and egg proper. In other words, a larval stinkbug has a can opener. As the movement of the larva is very slow, a part of this video is played at fast speed. In order to provide a clear view, wax that was covering the egg cap was removed.
