Phoronida (horseshoe worms) is a small animal phylum, consisting of only about 10 species worldwide. We rarely have a chance to see adults of these worms. However, their larvae called ¡Æactinotroca¡Ç are rather common in plankton samples. The individual in the picture was reared from larval stage through metamorphsis. It is very small (about 1mm in length) but already has a basic body sturucture of an adult. (translated by Asoh)
