I found a beautiful butterfly while I was walking around the fields to take pictures of flowering grasses. I took a picture of the butterfly, but the picture was not well focused. I looked up the name of the butterfly in a picture book and found the butterfly was Hestina assimilis.
A few days later, I found two butterflies of the same species in the same area. There was a Japanese persimmon tree beside a sweet chestnut tree, and the butterflies were sucking the juice of a fallen Japanese persimmon fruit. They were so busy sucking the juice through their yellow proboscis, and did not seem to fly away.
After I took 30-40 still pictures, I took 4-5 video pictures using the video function of the camera. The current video is one of the latter, and shows how the butterflies approached a fallen Japanese persimmon fruit. Because I did not use a video camera, the length of the picture is short and the picture is not very clear; however, I happen to read a newspaper article asking for movie pictures of 'Animals in Hitozato,' and I decided to submit one of mine.
