In the three-spined stickleback, only a male parent takes care of eggs and hatched embryos. The male parent continues the care until the embryos leave the nest. In the video, the male is moving pectoral fins and pumping water continuously over the eggs so that the embryos hatch successfully. This behavior is called fanning. The verb ¡Æfan¡Ç means ¡Æto blow away with a fan.¡Ç
