Second calendar-year female Crested Honey Buzzard in Morioka Zoological Park ZOOMO.
Response to playback of rattling call of Crested Honey Buzzard in Taiwan.
Movie (downsized) obtained near the cage.
In response to a rattling call of a Crested Honey Buzzard
in Taiwan, the bird looked somewhat restless with frequent
movements of the head, slight extension of the neck,
preening at times (but not for long) and head scratching.
The bird then flew to a higher pole,
followed by the loud voice by the Laughing Kookaburra
lasting for 17s, which might have affected
the experiment. The bird looked attentive on the pole
sometimes by lowering the head, frequent shaking of
the head as in momo211209pp12b.
It also preened itself for a short time and yawned once.
The frequency of eye blinks and movements of
the nictitating membrane decreased much when the bird
was on the pole.
See momo211209pp01b for information of this individual.
