The Northern Ryukyu flying-fox is endemic to Kuchinorabu-jima Island and the Tokara Islands. The population has been assigned to a critical endangered species and a national treasure by the Ministry of the Environment. Although the flying-fox has high conservation status, their ecological information has lacked, especially in the Tokara Islands. We need to accumulate the ecological information for their conservation. In 2023 July 17th, I found a diurnal roost and observed a adult male in Akuseki Island, the Tokara Islands. I had continued to observe the male until night. Later about 30 min of sunset, I observed that the male rubbed parts around his lower jaw, neck and shoulder against the branches like territory defense. This data is one of two behaviors recored in the same day.
